Birmingham: Official Statement From McLeish, Boyd & Davis

According to Birmingham’s official website, Birmingham boss Alex McLeish admitted that the club is currently working on signing one or two players this January. He said,

“The owners are looking through lists just now but sometimes it’s not that easy … But we are certainly trying to make some headway with one or two players … We have spoken to agents and clubs … The next thing will be enticing them to come to Birmingham.”

“Also, we’ve still been going to games … Everybody (McLeish and his backroom staff) was away this week and last weekend looking at the internationals.”

“I won’t be making any comment on players just now that we are linked with, rather than giving the fans names that don’t appear.”

According to MirrorFootball, Birmingham boss Alex McLeish is interested in Rangers duo Kris Boyd and Steven Davis. It is reported that he is preparing a £3million offer for Davis and a £1million offer for Boyd, who is out of contract after this season.

Blackburn Have Not Discussed A New Contract With Dunn

According to Peter Fraser at Sky Sports News, Blackburn midfielder David Dunn admitted that the club has yet to have discussions with him regarding a contract extension. His current deal with the club ends after this season. Dunn said,

“My contract is up at the end of the season … I don’t know what is going to happen with that so we will just wait and see … I’m just one of them. As long as I keep doing my stuff on the pitch, one way or another, whether it is at Blackburn or elsewhere, there will be options there for me at the end of the season.”

“There have been no talks as yet. I just sit there and keep doing what I do best on the pitch and everything off the pitch will take care of itself.”

“My agent and the club, if they want to do something that will be sorted out. If not, we will certainly have options come January or the end of the season.”

Everton Have Not Had Any Discussions Involving Rodwell

According to David Maddock at MirrorFootball, Everton are not interested in getting rid of young midfielder Jack Rodwell. The 18-year-old footballer has been linked with Manchester United recently. Everton boss David Moyes said,

“Of course Jack is a talented young player who is English and already established in the Premier League at a top-six club, so there is bound to be interest from other clubs.”

“But that is hypothetical, for the future, and yet people are saying it has come now. It hasn’t. We are not sitting on an offer, and really, what is the point in answering, because there is nothing there at all.”

“He has a five-year contract and he’s very level-headed. There’s no point in me turning round and saying he’s not for sale, because we said that with Lescott and had to sell in the end. But what I can tell you is - 100 per cent - we have had nothing.”

“It’s hard for me to talk about these things because of Lescott and, to be honest, I don’t even want to go there because it’s rubbish.”

Burnley Looking To Sign 1 Or 2 Players This January

According to Chris Flanagan at the Lancashire Telegraph, Burnley boss Owen Coyle admitted that although funds will be tight, the club hopes to sign one or two players. He said,

“We really have to weigh it up and decide what’s the best way forward for us given in terms of the Premier League we don’t have a great big squad in terms of numbers …That won’t be significantly added to in January but it might be that we get one or two in to help us to give us a bit of freshness.”

“We’re always looking ahead but, like anything else, we won’t know because between now and January things will crop up and different situations might arise …But what we will do is make sure we do our work and preparation for that for when it comes about … There are different irons in the fire.”

“But other things will come into it – availability, finance, injuries and suspensions … Funds will be tight, funds are always tight. That’s nothing new to us, but we don’t get stroppy about these kinds of things … We deal with it head on as best we can and we try to do the best for the football club.”

Aston Villa Linked With Micah Richards

According to MirrorFootball, Aston Villa are interested in Manchester City defender Micah Richards. It is reported that Manchester City are planning to go after Barcelona defender Dani Alves and if they sign him, Richards will be expendable.

Harry Redknapp Rules Out Move For Foster

According to Sky Sports News, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp ruled out any possible move for Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster. He said,

“If United wanted to loan him, and I don’t know if they do, it would be a problem for him to go somewhere and not play. He wants to play for England.”

“(Heurelho) Gomes is my first-team goalkeeper and has been fantastic so there is no point in coming here as a number two.”
