Oi, Media! Shut the Hell Up About Fabregas!

Sunday, 19 October 08, 08:09 AM · Comments(0)

Some reports today are focussing heavily on the shortcomings of our performance yesterday but we won 3-1 with a good spread of goals so you won’t hear me complaining. It’s a shame that we had to come back from a goal down but that happens in football so I won’t get all mental about it. We came back from a disappointing result against Sunderland after a fragmented two weeks of training due to internationals and we scored 3 goals. That’s pretty good. If we get to the point that we are complaining about winning 3-1 then we need to take a good look at ourselves!

The media/agent/superclub conspiracy to unsettle our players has entered into DEFCON 1 today with reports about Fabregas turning down a new contract, which thankfully the artful little geezer has immediately refuted as mischief making. I do wish that the Red Tops would fuck the hell off and leave our players alone. I’m convinced that they are responsible for driving Vieira and Henry out of the club. The other story, featured on the Telegraph website, relates to none other than our turbo-charged super-oik Theo Walcott. Now bear in mind that Theo is still in his teens and playing regularly for a top European team in the Champions League under a manager who is considered by most people to be the best youth developer in the game. George Weah, Henry, Vieira, Pires… all of these players openly admit Wenger gave them their careers. Anyway the stupid article claims that the player is concerned because contract talks haven’t been carried out yet. What the hell?! As if Wenger would sell Walcott, the idea is ludicrous. Worse than that, the idea is completely idiotic. The whole thing is made up, stirring for the point of stirring. It says Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City are monitoring the situation. Bollocks to that. As if Wenger would sell an asset like Walcott to any of those clubs?

I think that this is a symptom of something that I have long suspected, namely that the footballing establishment, and by that I don’t mean the FA, I mean the media and the influential pundits and commentators (people like Lawro, Hansen, Lineker etc), don’t like the idea of a young English star playing for Arsenal. They want to see Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool with England’s internationals. I don’t know why this is the case, but it is definitely true. They would even prefer to see an England player in a Spurs shirt than Arsenal. Part of this comes from their love of complaining about Wenger’s policy of recruiting foreigners, but mostly the reason for this is that ‘they’ are dicks.

Anyway, well done Mr Wenger and well done boys, you did a good job against Everton, keep it going in the week. Shame that Toure and Nasri might be out though….
