Monday Hangover

Monday, 27 October 08, 02:05 AM · Comments(1)

So with another weekend of Premiership Football in the books I thought it would be a perfect time to unveil my new weekly column, HURRAH. As you can see by the title it's called "Monday Hangover" and it will hopefully give you some enjoyment whilst you are having your morning coffee at work nursing those Monday morning blues.

NOTE - Tottenham fans might well have real hangovers this morning as they at last won a game and probably celebrated in good Roman Pavlyuchenko style.

Weekend in pictures

Quote of the weenend

West Ham United manager Gianfranco Zola
"It would be easy for me to have a go at them, but the players' commitment is fantastic and their attitude is perfect. They were doing everything I asked them to on the pitch, so I can have no complaints."

- Gianfranco Zola

I guess if you asked your players to go out there and lose and have one of them get sent off then, yes, they did do everything you asked them to do.

Stat of the weekend

Gareth Bale has never started in a Premier League game Tottenham have won. So it was no suprise that as he was starting the first of a three match ban that Spurs would finaly win. Up next for game two and three? Arsenal away and Liverpool home, Top four watch out!

Website of the week

Arsenals smoking captain William Gallas.

A great look in to the life of everyones favourite "Capi". Check out how he refers to himself in the 3rd person, Williams "prize list" (thats honours to me and you)and the "goodies" section where you can download all two of his great desktop wallpapers.

There is SO MUCH unintentional comedy on his site that if it clearly was not Official I would believe it to be a piss-take.

Things we found out over the weekend

1. Liverpool are for real! just incase you did not get that, LIVERPOOL ARE FOR REAL! I said on Friday in my Power Rankings column that this game at the bridge would go a long way in proving if Liverpool could mount a successful title bid and I would say they passed with flying colours. Much like their win over United a few weeks ago they never looked like losing, when was the last time you saw Chelsea so completely out of ideas at the bridge? I for one am a firm believer that Liverpool have now shown (I know its still October) that they have what it takes to mount a serious title challenge. I know people will say Chelsea were without Drogba but Liverpool were without Torres and I know their goal was rather fortuitous but the manner in which they controlled and won the game was not. REASON No19 WHY LIVERPOOL WIN THE TITLE - Last team to beat Chelsea in the league at home was Arsenal and they went on to win the league without losing a single league game!

2. How incredibly optimistic Spurs fans can be at a moments notice. Out goes Ramos and in come Harry "the saviour" Redknapp and spurs fans are already preaching how glory days are on there way again. Amazing how 3 points in their 8th game of the season can make them over look the fact they picked up 2 points from their first 8 games. I dont see how Harry is going to get them to were ultimately the want(believe) they should be which is in the top 4 I guess? Harry is now 61 years old and only won his first major honor last season. Tottenham season might have turned the corner but I think their walking around the same block.

3. Wigan have picked up a massive 0 points in games Zaki has failed to score in. Thats a very worrying stat about a player who could well leave them in January. Steve Bruce will need to find an answer or its a long hard winter in store for the Latics

You Tube

Those of you who saw old blonde beard Cisse score against Newcastle will now doubt seen his goal celebration. Now would it not have been funnier if this had happened?

I thought Rooney was a really big an Everton fan? Obviously I was mistaken

Since the big news this weekend was not Liverpool ending Chelsea 2,783 game unbeaten run at the bridge or Manchester United dropping points at Everton or even that Hull were joint top of the League for about 10 hours but Ramos out Harry in, I thought id leave you with this
