Yes, that's what I am. Sick and freakin tired of all the rain! We've been having rain for almost two weeks non stop now. Everything is soaked. And let's face it, when the weather is so gloomy then you don't feel like venturing outside which makes life boring. The constraints of four walls gets to you, no matter how many times you beat Liverpool on Fifa 09. To add to this there's no FA Cup replay tonight and I'm left to my devices on what I have to call Digital Satelite TV (more about this later)*.
I can then based on my own scenario not even come close to what our Londeners are going through with all the snow. I've seen snow twice in my short span here on earth, at 1 which I can't remember but I'm made assure I did see it and then in '97. And that's it. So I trust that if you reside in London you are having quite a relaxed day and by that I mean FAR away from work.
Right. It's safe to say that we all know what went down yesterday. And it's even more safe to say that little has changed. Until I see an official announcement on the subject matter I stay sceptical - just like a find my football at present. It ain't over till the bald/balding chap/arse blows the whistle. In the transfer case it will be... I honestly do not know? The Arsenal web admin that will post the news in my case. Yours might be something more visual.
With reference to yesterdays' post I wish to clarify a very hasty statement. The one where I state that Andrey will help us out of our predicament. To clarify this I was aiming to point to the impact this might have on The Arsenal as a whole. Whatever your stance currently is, this signing (in its non official guise) has had some effect on you as Arsenal supporter. It creates a buzz and that is what I'm aiming at. I've hold full to the fact that the current team even with certain players not up to par can maintain the squad as a whole (we've been unbeaten for many games now). What I didn't acknowledge was the fact that we can not play pentrative football every match day.
Can Andrey do this? Time will tell but his arrival will answer what so many people has pointed to (nevermind the correctness of it). We have injured players, three for our critical functioning and even when they do come back we still have at least a month to make due without until Theo might retu. Adding Andrey right now will make the team overall thrive on this buzz as I'm sure the first time he takes to the field this buzz will be as close to tangible as it's likely to come this season. Only Cescs' return will top this I believe, but he's still a long way from returning.
But having Andrey as a new face will do more on a mental level than what he can do initially. If he plays crap, which I doubt, it will wear off over a few games. And that few games is where we need to take three points every time. We're head to head with Villa, 14 games in the BPL and April is where it will get tough(er) for us. The upside to the following 14 games is that Villa will face Chelski, LFC and Man City before April. If they do slip up and we make the most of our "easy" games up until then we can be ahead of Villa - and like it's been said they are our target first and foremost. Whatever comes after that will be added bonus IF we handle Feb and Mar with utmost diligence. And for this period no player coming from injury will have the moral effect this new signing has. If anything the impact may only be felt throughout late April and May by the return of our players.
So I'm pointing to what Andrey brings to Arsenal in terms of a little light at the end of the tunnel. If anything, I can also see The Arsenal with it's current team managing wins with the help of some new creativity in one person. But it doesn't mean one person will change Arsenal - Arsenal consists of 11 players on the pitch plus the subs and most importantly the 60,000+ supporters right there and then the rest of the world. When there is unison between all these functions then Arsenal is what Arsenal has always been: one of the best teams to watch flowing football. Andrey at the minimum will be the catalyst in the next two months and a catalyst is known as not being part of the reaction - merely something to start and maintain the reaction.
So, even though it (Andrey deal) is not official I can not doubt that we are facing one of the most enthralling periods of football for The Arsenal. It's been a tough ride this season, but if any team can do it it will be Arsenal. There's something about being a Gooner that makes you believe until the final whistle. That something is a team that is able to do it led by a manager that we've all come to respect and adore (well most of us) because he can do it.
So let this damn rainy day end, paper work get finalized and lets get on with the formality of the sp*rs matter this weekend.
Edit:
*Watching SkyNews yesterday was nearly impossible for the intent of getting some info from the UK. I was forced to watch 27 minutes of everything I was not interested in just to see 30 seconds worth of "breaking news" around the Andrey saga. The issue here is that SkyNews was the only pure UK news I was afforded on a 200+ boquet DSTV subscription. Our local sport channels has a breaking news section but the only thing I saw there was news on rugby and local football. So in short I pay around 30 pounds a month to watch Arsenal play on weekends. The rest of my DSTV subscription is redundant (I know the missus don't see it the same way).
