Arsenal Manage Something That The Whole USA Failed To Do

In one of my many attempts at avoiding getting a proper career, there was a time when I worked for Amazon.com customer service. Basically, the job involved replying to the emails sent to customer service by anyone who had used the .com site and had a problem or query and getting paid silly money to do so (silly in the good way).

While working there, there was a book on the site called 'Boy lovers and the boys who love them' or something like that and at the time it seemed as if the entire USA was writing in to have it removed because of its content. It was such a huge issue that Amazon even wrote a special 'blurb' specific to that publication.  Basically they said that while they understood peoples repulsion at a book which seemed to attempt to justify paedophilia, they did not censor any content and would not be removing this book under any circumstances.

So, when people (Arsenal fans in general) started a campaign to have the Man U chant CD removed from the site I quite happily wished them luck but was confident that Amazon would not be moved.

I didn't count on the power of Arsenal FC.

One letter from them and down comes the CD. It seems that unless you're a multi-million £ corporation, Amazon just don't give a shit.

Anyway, that's both Play and Amazon who've chosen to remove an offensive CD and that's a good thing. I never agree with censorship, and as much as I hate it at times, I am very much a subscriber to the whole 'I may not agree with what you have to say but i'll fight for you're right to say it' theory. A true democracy cannot be so with any sort of censorship, but there is a huge difference between censorship and incitement to hate, and basically, what we had in the Man U CD was incitement to hate. Hence its removal.

Arsenal 1 Man U Fans Cunts. Result.

Elsewhere, there isn't really much else going on. Eduardo, by all accounts, is very down because of the whole diving drama, and I'm sure he knows that for the rest of his career he will be known as the player who dove to win a penalty for Arsenal v Celtic. To say this is unfair would be the understatement of the millenium. Is that what Ronaldo will be known for? Or Drogba? Or Torres? What about Gerrard, or Rooney (who, off course, states he would never dive as it's not fair on supporters and opponents - what arse)? Recently there has been a shift in the press coverage, with more journos claiming that contact WAS made, but it's too late. The damage has been done. It's like me setting your house on fire, buring it to the ground and then saying 'whoops, sorry.' Won't exactly rebuild your house or replace your possessions will it? And besides, not one has apologised and it is all just exemplified with the news that UEFA will not be implementing a review of every match. It seems that, as we feared, Eduaro has been singled out and sent to the slaughter of public opinion.

I hope he knows we at least will always love him and know what type of player he REALLY is. Let's just hope it doesn't drive him from England, though if I was him, it would be in my mind.

Even if he ends this season with 50 goals, still all people will remember him for is that 'dive' and that is the true disgrace of the whole affair (and the reason behind Justice for Eduardo).

It all makes me sad.

So that's where I'll leave it til there's something to make me happy again. Or tomorrow. Whichever comes first, I have a feeling it will be the latter.

Til then Arse-lovers.

Fantastic news... 8)

The club obviously got medieval ;)

I think the Eduardo thing is going to pale in comparison to the FIFA ruling yesterday. That is truly a monumental precedent that's been set.

I'd imagine there's a few clubs with twitchy arses at present. Man U being one 8)

But unfortunately the damage has been done to Edu's reputation...fans don't forget that sort of thing.

Am I right in saying the chant 'Same Old Arsenal, Always Cheating' gained significant momentum after Le Bob's dive against Portsmouth? One dive, one player, club tarnished...how come they don't sing it at Liverpool, Chelsea or Man U? Or Blackburn after Pedersons dive at the Emirates which has to be one of the worst ever witnessed in professional football?

All far more worthy teams, and don't forget, this chant is now so ingrained that Portsmouth fans thought they could sing it at EX Arsenal players when playing Man Shitty

It has been sung about Chelsea as well for a while now.. since the Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank days..
But you are right, it seems like Manure and Liverpool seem to get let off... 8O
