VP says "Lemme at 'em"

Monday, 02 November 09, 08:27 AM · Comments(4)

With the Carling Cup sending us back to Manchester Shitty for a rematch sooner than any of us imagined, VP has given the boss the perfect excuse to add more experienced first teamers to a Carling Cup squad, which, we have to admit, would struggle against Shitty’s first team if we sent just kids. He has made it very clear that he wants to play this one, and you just know he wants revenge for what the ex-25 did.  I don’t say they would struggle to criticise the youngsters, rather to point out that Shitty are so pissed at us that they will kick the crap out of our kids in a desperate bid to ‘get another one over us.’ Like the Spuds, I can’t see them differentiating a win over our first team and a win over our kids, and I, for one, can’t be annoyed listening to the ex-25 yabbering on if they were to beat us. When the draw was made, many wondered would Wenger stick with his policy of only playing the kids, but as he has all but promised a trophy this season, I can’t see him taking that chance. I’m not saying all the kids will be replaced with first teamers, but I dare say we will see a far more experienced line-up than usual.

But that’s a long way off and lots can happen between now and then. Now, we still have the post Spud-mashing glory to bask in. Do you think I’ll still be able to gloat on Wednesday when I return to work? I think so.

There isn’t really that much else to report. We play AZ on Wendesday, the same night as Liverpool fight for their Champions League lives. How nice to be in the position of qualifying so soon. After watching the kids against Liverpool take the ball into the corner in the last moments, and the first team hold a solid back four instead of bombing forward for a fourth against the Spuds, I’m fairly confident that we’ve learnt how to see a game through to the end. Also, given that the game against AZ is at home, I expect it to be a lot more comfortable and a few clear goals should see us seal our place in the next round. I’ll do a better review the evening of the match.

And that’s really all there is.

Lots of new transfers and t-shirts here so if you haven’t already got yours, wait you waiting for? http://www.smarttees.eu

I still think we'll see a starting 11 that's completely different to the 1 that starts the weekend before. :D
