Marca and AS are set to sack Manuel Pellegrini

Pellegrino go now - Marca

Breaking news: Florentino Perez is going to sack Real Madrid's coach, Manuel Pellegrini, because newspapers Marca and AS told him so. They even told him when to do it; after EL Clasico against Barcelona.

Ridiculous!

I have a lot of respect for journalism and media (I'm a journalist myself), but what Marca and AS are doing is nothing but disgusting. The pressure they put on Real Madrid is unnecessary, and in my opinion, they are one of the problems that Real Madrid have.

Constructive criticism, done at the right time, is one thing and what those two newspapers are doing is another thing. At the start of the season, when Real were scoring at least three goals per game, they were hailing how great this squad was going to be.

Enter Sevilla. They beat Real -- Marca call's for Pellegrini's head.

After only one defeat?

Milan beats Real at the Bernabeu. The pressure increases. Alcorcon trash Real Madrid 4-0.

Marca screams: "Pellegrini GO NOW!".

They even invent a story. They report that Pellegrini was given only two weeks to turn things around.

And he did.

Real turn things around, they produce spectacular performances, beat Getafe and Atletico Madrid while draw AC Milan in a game they totally dominated at the San Siro.

The same newspapers hail Higuain, Kaka, and Benzema, but not Pellegrini because he wasn't the reason we won; he is always the reason we lose.

They then shift their attention to the Guti case. They report that he was moving to another club in January even though Valdano "begged" Guti to return to the squad. They even went on to compare it to the case of Riquelme.

Now you Marca and AS listen up. If Guti disrespected the coach (I'm sure he did -- not unusual), then you AND Guti, shut the fuck up. Whether Pellegrini is a great coach or not, HE MUST BE RESPECTED. Period!

Not only Pellegrini. Everyone at the club. Even the secretary (such a nice lady -- she helped me a lot) MUST BE RESPECTED.

If I were Pellegrini I would keep leaving him out of the squad. There has to be discpline, authority and a code of conduct. There has to be someone who is running things there. It shouldn't be Perez, Valdano, Marca, AS or OleOle.

It should be Pellegrini.

They have made a lot of decisions for us, especially when it comes to hiring and sacking coaches. If you have been a fan of Real Madrid for over six years you'd know that we sacked a lot of coaches -- thanks to the "healthy criticism" from the Spanish media.

I certainly hope that Perez will deal with the pressure. If he is really a smart man, then he shouldn't do the same mistake twice. We've really been through this and have always taken the easy road by sacking the coach and we failed. Why don't we stick to what we have at least for one season?

When the new project was introduced, Perez had nothing but wonderful words to say, especially on Pellegrini. He said he was the right man, and If he sacks him now then it means all of what he said was crap. Just a sample of a nice presentation written by a Marca journalist.

Let's be smart. Let's have faith, and let's go through this together -- Together We Can, Together We Stand.

They know that stability is a must. I heard Perez say it himself a week ago, and so far so good. He seems like a smart person and If he really learned from his mistakes then he would know it already.

I'm not spanish but from my experience as a madridista I can guarantee you these tabloids are Anti-Stability. Once they sense a wave of calmness and seriousness, they jump out saying bazzare stuff.

See if we had smart fans it would have discredited them and they'd get a run for their money, but sadly people buy into this type of news.

So yeah simply put I think its the media vs the intelligence of the fans and the guillotine is over Pellegrinis neck.

The word is that Florentino has Pellegrini until the Nou Camp show down to sort out this mess. I hope the papers are wrong - but that is what they are reporting.

If it is true, and Florentino sacks Pellegrini for losing to Barcelona, then I for one will not Florentino's plan any longer.

I am fed up of having our manager's destiny constantly in the hands of the press.

It is pandering to the worst kinds of emotions of the supporters, who constantly see the solution as firing the coach. Don't do it Floren!

Marca and AS are a disgrace; as you said they put unneccesary pressure on the team and manager, and act as the director's mouthpiece for tapping up players (eg Alonso)

Marca and AS seem to willing Barcelona to give madrid another thrashing! Just so Pellegrini is fired and their favourites (Raul + Guti) can be brought back into the team.

I heard cr9 is back on the pitch now everything will go easy for real because even if we play with raul or not cr9 takes 2 persons so no one can criticise the team not even marca or AS (that looks for micro things that happens on the pitch) we will trash barca. hala Madrid

The unfortunate truth is that the press lives to create unstability. If they left things how they were, they would have nothing to write about. In politics, sports, or celebrity gossip, they will always find something sensational to write about and the best we can do is ignore it.

9 coaches in 6 years. Maybe 10. Go ahead and fire Pellegrini now, but you'll just be firing Rafa, Mancini or Spalleti or Laudrup or whoever you hire in a year's time anyway when As or Marca turn on them as well

Good news this morning.

-Ronaldo is starting to run and could be available for the Racing game.

-Pellegrini wants to stop rotating and is confident what the main lineup is for the rest of the season. LINK

So whats the optimal lineup? I'd like to see everyones input on this question. Please state a lineup that can work for the rest of the season.

I know most guys wil not agree with me....but anyway here it goes....(I know this will probably not happen)

---------Casillas
Ramos--Pepe--Albiol--Arbeloa
------Alonso---Lass
Kaka--------VDV-------Ronaldo
----------Higuain

(Benzema and Raul would enter for VDV and Higuain depending on form)

Kaka is a mess on the wings, he simply should not play there. The formation should be like this IMO;
Casillas, Ramos, Pepe, Albiol, Arbeloa, Lass, Alonso, Higuain, Kaka, Ronaldo, Benzema. Higuain and Ronaldo will play as Inside Forwards while Kaka will play as a second-striker to Benzema, where he loves to play. Luckily, Pellegrini's starting Xi is the same as mine except for the fact that he plays Benzema on the wing and Higuain up front.

Guys...Fiorentino said two contrasting things which actually scares me.Perez said this...

1)Pellegrini will last for a year...maybe even more

2)We need staility

They are VERY contrasting...keeping a coach for a year is NOT stability...wake up guys!!! In order to have staility I would like the coach lasting ATLEAST 3 years...and will remain coach no matter what even if he fails to win anythingin the first two years. All clubs do this...

He didn't say he'd stay for a year. If I remember correctly, he said, "Pellegrini will be here at the end of the season." That doesn't mean he won't be here next season.

Marca and AS would be great satire websites if they didn't take themselves seriously - a "historical" upset? Umm, what about last season in the Copa del Rey? I think Pellegrini's team selection for the cup was a statement to certain players - you are not good enough to play against the segunda, so stop crying that you don't warm the bench in the primera

Just to make it clear, last yr we went down fighting 6-5 to Real Union, not like this yr's 4-1 to Alcorcon. Now do u see which loss is more acceptable??
And Real Union was a 2nd division side IMO not a 3rd division one like Alcorcon! =D

at the end of the day it's a shit competition. we would rather win the league or the CL. now stop crying over spilled milk.

and the selection was more political than tactical, but apparently you are too simple minded to understand that.

I agree the game at nou camp was ours but the coach let us down surely a coach aught to read the game and picture the missing link in the team and fix it. I have watched Madrid lose games not because the opponent was better but that we never fixed our weak link during the game. The coach has Van yet he doesnt know what to do with him we sold Robben but see the wing needs a classy player who can burry chances that the team did create at the nou camp am disappointed that our own coach seems more unable to make a tactful substitution like Pep did. Many coaches win matches with the right substitution ours loses. Just consider the substitution made in the match none changed the game to our favour all gave away the game.

The thing that gets me really mad is the ref, i'm not saying we lost the game because of him BUT dani alves should have seen a yellow if not red for that lashing out against the side ref he literally raised his fist to the ref wanting to punch him i have no idea how he got away with that how can a player do that to a ref and not be punished. and keita's had at least 8 fouls 3 of which stopped counter attacks and he saw no yellow but 1 small foul on messi by arbeloa and he gets a yellow. Busquets first foul on ronaldo was absolutely a yellow he came in from the back to the heels i don't care if it was in the first 10 minutes or the last 10 minutes it was a yellow. He was easily swayed by the basura players. This is supposed to be spains number 1 ref he is going to represent them in the world cup what a shame. He did a trashy job in the costa rica v uruguay game and he did a trashy job in this game as well.
