RealmadridTalk Podcast

Due to being busy (these are the last few days of my summer school), I couldn't write a review of the Villarreal game nor a preview for tonight's game. However, I was able to record the third episode of the RealmadridTalk Podcast in which I, Kevin from the OwnGoalNetwork, Corey and Mark from the Offside.com discuss Real's victory over Villarreal, compare Ronaldo to Messi and preview the Tenerife game.

You can subscribe to the RealmadridTalk Podcast on iTunes or through any other media player using this feedburner link. Alternatively, you can either download this episode or listen to it below.

The Tenerife game shouldn't be a problem. Our first real European challenge will be on Wednesday against Marseille. After that our first La Liga challenge against Sevilla . With our early goal and the red card Villareal couldn’t really challenge. In England the teams know where they stand for they all had tough matches already, plus I hate to say it our League is still nowhere the Premier League. Back in the days other teams used to compete with Barca and us. Sevilla and Valencia are still in sight but both Villareal and Atletico are a heavy disappointment.

I haven't watched a quality stream since this years LaLiga started. Last year Veetle was awesome, now it's much harder to find good streams. And if you do find a stream 90 percent of the time it's not in English. Also it appaers they are planning early kick offs in the future, 15:00 CET like the premier league. 8O

The only thing im worried about is how fast it'll take the team to gel especially defensivly cos we are still shaky at the back! As for todays match i'll say madrid 4 tenfere 0-cos of pepe's return.

I am surprised that neither albiol nor lass get a break considering that the next two matches are quite tough!

Boooooooooooooooooooooo! What a 3rd grade performance by our team! How much time do our players need to gel?? The whole season?? We were no way near Barca's level. Barca will beat Tenerife by 5-6 goals I'm sure.
Some points I have:
1. Worst performance of CR9 in la liga so far! What was he doing out there? Totally out of form. It seemed something or someone since last game had rattled his focus. Now Messi is gonna take a lead in the Pichichi race. He looked distracted.
2. Raul- what can I say about him? We just need to get rid of this guy. Was totally invisible on the pitch. Don't know why ppl are so hell bent on playing that old guy. He can honestly kiss my ass!
3.All players looked invisible in the midfield except Kaka. Pepe was suspect in defense. Drenthe looked solid.
4. Kaka made all the difference in the 2nd half. MOM coming off the bench.
We need to play a hell lot of better to beat Marseille, Sevilla & Milan in the coming days.
Barca are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ahead of us. What?? We can challenge Barca this yr?? In ur dreams!!!!!

Seriously guys, all Drenthe can freaking do is run and kick the ball very hard. He has no class but he's a gutsy player and that's important. Marcelo's Brazilian flair makes him a much better left-back for me though.

And WTF is up with Guti? I haven't seen him consistently play so well in ages :P Like Adam said in one of his posts, Guti is World-Class when he's consistent. Him and Kaka gave us a completely new look.

Despite some strange moments, Casillas bailed us out on countless occasions, he made at least 5 awesome saves. It was a good thing we took off Ramos because he's our only right-back at the moment and he had to play against Marseille. Despite this being a bad performance, we won, and by a good margin. In addition, we had a cleen-sheet. We could do much better do...but that's just it, if we can do much better, how much more will we score? 8O

On Guti, touch wood =D

On everything else, I have to explain in a post, but generally the team has been playing good. Compare it to the one we had several years ago, we might not be playing as a team as Barca do, but that's fine. We have achieved fantastic results and that's what counts.

At this rate we are going to get whooped again by Barca in league & an EPL team in CL. All the massive spending & still no result.

How are Barca ahead of us? With tonight's result, I think we are topping the league even If Barca win their game. We are scoring fantastic goals and achieving results home, away, against small teams and big teams. The only thing I can see difference is style of play. Barca play more as a team and this is normal. Their squad haven't changed dramatically. We have played as a team a couple of times but we still need more time to perform consistently.

totally agreed, Marcelo is perfect once he learns how to defend decently. give credit to drenthe with his play today. though, i agree that he has "no classs" as u said but i really admire his attitude of playing, that's sth marcelo had been lacking of(the brazilian had prominent improvement against villareal).

Guti look hot too, i was quite suprise to see him not started ahead of Xabi who has just been recovered from injury. guti is no doubt world class once he is in form. right now he is playing like he did two seasons ago when he solely relied on him on everyting. i hope the vice-captain can keep on going.

Shit , that means Man Utd are gonna make it 4 titles in a row! They are way too consistent. Don't know what happens to Chelsea, after a good start to the season, they just lose the plot in the middle. Arsenal beat the same team 4-0 a few days ago, shame Chelsea!

but check this out,Liverstool won 6-1 8O hat trick for Fernando Torres

We need that Torres guy playing for us, not that EPL team. Perez go after him next yr. I read it is his 5th hat-trick in EPL! WOW!! 8O 8O

Hi there, liked the podcast and thought I would add my thoughts to your site.
Crap game agreed, esp. 1st half.Alonso was not allowed to create play and Lass had a howler. Drenthe was overun yet again by a Sevilla canterano.
Worrying thoughts - at the mo we're nowhere near CL level, Sevilla should be fun at the Sanchez with Negredo off the mark. (I was dead against the sale as we need a real box man who can hold the ball up) and will have something to prove next week.
Finally can Pellegrini manage the egos?? Cristiano on a sulk as per, esp with Raúl which is not a harmonious move, Granero has sulked off out the studio and home and Higaín sits on the bench wondering how he's gonna get minutes to impress Maradonna, worrying........

Seriously guys, all Drenthe can freaking do is run and kick the ball very hard. He has no class but he's a gutsy player and that's important. Marcelo's Brazilian flair makes him a much better left-back for me though.

And WTF is up with Guti? I haven't seen him consistently play so well...

u obv have somthing against drenthe? boy was solid today MUCH better left back then marcelo left back first thing is to defend then attak if marcelo has that brazlian flair to attack whos gona do the defending eh?

Yeah wtf is wrong with him?? If Castilla players start doing this then what can U expect from foreign players?? Granero needs to grow up & show some respect to the team, leaving the Bernabeau at half-time does not win over ur team-mates or the fans.
Maybe he'll get the Riquelme treatment from Pellegrini & rot on the bench.

well said on the left back part mate, even though i personally prefer marcelo to drenthe, i have to agree that "defense" is more important than attack as a leftback.

it's very interesting. marcelo showed his improvement on defense last game against villareal and drenthe today also showed his improvement on using the ball. if they keep on going, our team will definitely be benefited. they are young and have rooms to improve.

Ok in the light of all the cricitizm going on lately from our performance against Tenerife and Xerez.
Their are small stuff that people aren't realizing, yes its true that this is the second time in history where we have the best players in the world in almost every position but you know what really catches my eye about Galacticos V2? They have presistance and aren't arrogant like the old Galacticos in the zizou era were; they run more and try to fix each others mistakes and this is the reason we have a winning streak right now imo.

Every news paper has Real Madrid under the microscope looking for the slightest mistakes in every milisecond of their gameplay; thats enough proof that we are the best in history so fans just relax a bit.

I am not so confident about the outcome of this season though; I think we face a problem under Pellegrini. Now everyone talks about how "We just need to Gel, then we'll do better magic than anyone". See that is totally true but Pellegrini's policy will not help the players Gel. I don't care what people say but this is a fact. The only way we can play together better as a squad is if we have the same starting lineup for a whole year....ATLEAST.

I'm not running into conclusions but I'm waiting this out. If we manage to raise a trophy or 2 this season then I'll be really happy but I see it very unlikely with Pellegrini's policy.

Pellegrini has a starting XI, he just can't keep on playing it when we're playing 3 games a week, can he? Pellegrini justs says those things to make the fringe players feel confident and assured of their chances. We had to do some extra rotation yesterday because of Sergio Ramos' strain and the team's fatigue.

From what I can see, Pellegrini's starting XI is a 4-2-1-3, even if the basic formation is a 4-4-2. They line up like; Casillas, Ramos, Pepe, Albiol, Marcelo, Lass, Xabi Alonso, Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema, Raul. Lass and Alonso form a double-pivot while Benzema drifts to the right wing and lets Kaka play in the center with Raul the sole striker up front and Ronaldo doing his thing from the right-wing. I'd much rather see Higuain playing but Pellegrini likes Raul more for the time being.

So Pellegrini is already under the hammer. I knew we needed a high profile coach who cud handle the egos. This is all becuz of Valdano. That idiot was the one who recommended him to Perez. Says he is the 'Arsene Wenger of la liga' ! Yeah sure like Wenger has won a league title in the last 6 yrs. Stupid fool! He thinks he knows much about futbol, but infact he doesn't. This guy gets under my nerves- especially the way he treated Robben & Huntelaar!
I want to tell u 1 thing about Pellegrini: I read on Marca that this guy played 36 different starting XI's in 38 games last yr. LOL! Now that's not good for a team to gel.
And where's the 'one-touch' futbol that we all were promised?? All I see is our players' individual brilliance, no team-work or anything. I want to know what this coach is doing except picking the team for the match?

He spoke out he's against the rotating system. Those are matters he should discuss with the coach. Period. It's Pellegrini's decision. I expected some of the big players to be critical this season, but this is way too early and the wrong way to do it.

That Granero needs to go back to Getafe! 'Cuz he isn't too happy playing sub to Kaka & co. He is gonna destroy the harmony of the dressing-room! 8O

The thing which took place was this: Granero played SHIT in the 1st half, provided no service to the forwards, so Pelle had to sub him during the HT. But guess what, El Pirate has a BIG EGO, and packed his bags & left the Bernabeu to go to his home then & there, didn't even stay to watch the match! 8O

Granero didn't leave at half time, it says he left one minute before the end of the game we don't know why so it's hard to come out and say he has a big ego what if he had a family emergency or wanted to get treatment on a injury, or maybe he was just mad at the way he played. It's hard to judge him on no information we don't know exactly what happened. He has been playing well and one game doesn't make him a bad player and a disruption to the team. "Pellegrini quitó importancia al suceso y reconoció que no sabía que uno de sus jugadores, Granero, se marchase del Bernabéu cuando quedaba un minuto para el final del partido tras ser sustituido en el tiempo de descanso."

oh yeah i was checking the goal.com comments out and most of the people are saying on that "la liga is shite" and its only two team league well yeah thats true BUT if you put madrid and barca in any other league in the world right now i think if they play well they would beat anybody...i dont see no other team with a squad or a team like madrid and barca... and other thing is teams in EPL get more money from tvs and that but in la liga small teams have to loan players and make them come through the youth and that but EPL they all buy from other leagues they have more money thats why its more of a challenge for the top 4! we would have a top four if valencia and sevilla or ATH madrid had the same amount of money as arsenal do and chelsea and liverpool ..thats why there top four is more equal! even tho valencia are broke i would still think they have a pretty good team! who would give liverpool and arsenal a good match..they have more money in the league but in la liga only the top 2 have the money! and thats a fact! so fuck the EPL! viva LA LIGA 8)

Goal.com is fun for reading rumors but the people who comment there don't know shit. EPL fans should look at their own stinking league for once where the same Top 4 has been there since I don't know how long. La liga's Villareals and Atleticos are much better than EPL's Tottenhams and Aston Villas. When teams like Liverpool and Man Utd come up against the likes of Villareal and Atletico, they struggle, that says a lot. EPL fans are just jealous that most of the greatest players in the world are now in La liga. We have Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka, Villa, Silva, Benzema, Casillas, Xavi, Iniesta and Xabi Alonso while all they have are Rooney, Torres, Gerrard, Lampard, Drogba, Fabregas and Arshavin.

Looks like I was right! Most of the ppl including Marca editors, Valdano & Madridistas around the world think it was a shocking/horrible performance nowhere near CL level. Hope we can improve.

Just wanted to say I disagree with ppl who say Alonso is our most imp player- NO Sir, he's not! We didn't miss him in the few games he was injured. :|

It is Kaka we can't do without. Take Kaka out & we play Second division futbol. :?
Kaka MVP! Plz God don't ever get injured or...

i will say both kaka and xabi alonso are equally important in their respective roles. without kaka, our attack will be stuck, but a guy like alonso is someone we've been looking for. he is able to maitntain the balance of the team and is able to connect defense and attack. that's something kaka can't do.

What I read? Kaka and Ronaldo annoyed by rotating system? And so it starts. I hate it when players go to media to spit shit. Unsatisfied this early, blistering egos. And Granero also acting up... 8O

would u please give us concrete information? as far as I know kaka says he always wants to play, but accepts that his body needs a break, I only see media trying to create trouble, but no negative comment was made ( or I haven't heard one)..and CR7 acted the same in manchester, but it was obviously...

He spoke out he's against the rotating system. Those are matters he should discuss with the coach. Period. It's Pellegrini's decision. I expected some of the big players to be critical this season, but this is way too early and the wrong way to do it.

I'm stunned by Granero (but is it...

it's u guys, along with those BULLSHIT sources fromt he media, that create all these troubles. our team are having a 6 game winning streak and u guys are stupid enough to pick on some meaningless stuff to critize the team. what the hack is wrong with this??? at least these "EGOS" can do something while those "discarded" dutch couldn't do.

and the rotation system has nothing wrong so far, it gives key players enough time to rest. we struggle at the 1st half because our new built team still can get used to play without kaka.

you are right on granero's thing, but u gotta be fair on judging Ronaldo too. u said El Pirate is "still young" but how old is ronaldo?? is he much older than Pirate??? they both are our players and need our support. We shouldn't critisize them like this with some "small" stuffs like this. u say anything when u weren't not actually there and knew what those players are thinking. They can be upset by their own performance and don't make our silly conclusion while we don't know shit about what actually was happening there. CR9 isn't my favorite player but i don't care about any bad news around him if he keeps on playing in this level. He deserved a lot of credit on the pitch even though he didn't score yesterday. don't be too biased and subjective. even Granero had a bad game, i still think he deserves more chances. we all should care about what is going on "ON THE PITCH", but not those meaningless shit "OFF THE PITCH".

Well my point was precisely that...if they did similar things..they shouldn't be treated any difrently from one another. Los Galcticos was only critising Granero...and I think it wasn't fair.
I'd also like to add something about the "meaningless" off the pitch. What happens off the pitch determines HEAVILY what happens on it. Just look at Rijkaard's final year at Barcelona and you'll get what I'm saying, the same team that had just won the champions league.

CR9 's performance is consistently well in the games he played so far. let me tell u what, i will say it's totally "meaningless" to use his attitude as ur evidence to argue that he will ultimately affect the team or sth. what makes u worried?? from his Man Utd dayz??? he seemed to be a what so called "trouble maker" when he was in Man Utd but he was also playing outstanding ON THE PITCH. i rather have a "trouble maker" who can play in his level than some "decipline" 2nd tier player.

Casillas
Ramos Albiol Pepe Arbeloa
CR9 Alonso Lass Guti Kaka
Benz/Higain

and let Raul rot away on the bench.

it's funny! when kaka is just signed at summer, some pple are saying something like "we don't need kaka because we have already had sneijder and vdv". i think the last game pretty much give these ignorances the answer. the two dutch are 1st rank attack midfiedler but kaka is way better. he is among the best. he can do something that sneidjer and vdv CAN'T DO. his game reading ability and penetrating ability are something we actually need. After the retire of Zizou, we HAVEN'T FOUND ONE REPLACEMENT UNTIL THE ACQUSITION OF KAKA. one can be considered as the true leader on the pitch. Guti did great at 07/08 but he is much less dynamic compared with kaka. the brazilian is able to control the attacking tempo and make our attack much less predictable!! that 's sth we were lacking at last 3 seasons.

Same goes to the manager. Last season, ppl were bashing J. Ramos for not trying other players in his formation and now we have someone who do trial and error on each player, still ppl bashing on him. Well its really hard to satisfy the fans. That is why Real Madrid are different from others.

no mate, i am saying the opposite!! what i am tryna say is that some fans were too naive to think the squad we had last season is able to challange the top teams in Europe. they were satistified with the broken squad we had last season and were against the acqusition of those world class players we brought in this season.

and u are right too. real madrid fans sometimes are a little harsher but we all have the same goal. we all want our team to play good. personally, i am happy with our team now and won't judge them by one or two games(we won all them though)

you are right on granero's thing, but u gotta be fair on judging Ronaldo too. u said El Pirate is "still young" but how old is ronaldo?? is he much older than Pirate??? they both are our players and need our support. We shouldn't critisize them like this with some "small" stuffs like this. u say...

Well my point was precisely that...if they did similar things..they shouldn't be treated any difrently from one another. Los Galcticos was only critising Granero...and I think it wasn't fair.
I'd also like to add something about the "meaningless" off the pitch. What happens off the pitch...

if u are talking about Ronaldinho and his last year in Barca, i will tell u that is a totally different senario. at least, I have NEVER seen any visible sign indicating CR9's decline in physical level. u are just picking on some totally meaningless thing to critisize one who plays good on the pitch...

Ronaldinho didn't play not because he declined physically, but there were other reasons, such as FAKE injuries etc...So I can't se how you consider that to be meaningless.

let me tell u straight up on this if u are still not clear about some "obvious" thing. sneijder cannot do what kaka can do no matter what position he is playing at. at the first season he was with Schuster, he was put on the left but he was virtually merging into the middle as a attacking midfielder. he does great on simply touches and long distance striker. BUT he is lacking the ability to MAKE RUNS AND to CARRY THE BALL AROUND, OR TO PENETRATE like kaka does all the team. this makes the attacks are much easier to be predicted. i ain't judging him by his time with us, but those with AJAX, INTER(the games i 've seen so far), and NETHERLAND. he is good but NOWHERE he can be as good as kaka. cuz the brazilian is simply among the top 3. "we can never say", man, im comparing the top sneijder with the present kaka. and i still found that kaka is simply GREATER. if u still can see how much kaka contributes to the early success of our team. i doubt u know anythign about football. how important is this player for us. if kaka is played on the left, he still can adapt it cuz he has the quickness and skills that sneijder does have. that's what makes me say kaka is greater than sneijder. it doesn't mean sneijder sucks. the dutch is great, but kaka is even greater. i don't think i will be the only one even in this blog feels this way.

*kaka has the pace and skills that sneijder doesn't have. a playmaker might not need to contain those skills but those "additional" ability makes kaka greater than those "normal" playmakers.

i brought up ronaldinho thing probably i misunderstood what u said on the "barca" thing. regardless of that, the term "meaningless" i used are refering to some evidence provided by some "unreliable" source. as i said b4, i looked our team's performance on the pitch prior to EVERYTHING. the media is extremely stupid, they always like to pick on us real madrid. but ironically, there are some "real madrid" fans choosing to stand by the media's side instead of supporting the club. this is really pathetic.

You're still no getting what I mean mate and it's getting frustrating...but I'll give it one final go. I NEVER questioned kaka's ability, on the contrary he's my favourite brazilian player. My point is this, was it worth sagrificing all that money (and Sneijder) for Kaka? Let me give you an example, I think Torres is a better attacker than Benzema. Does that mean we should bring torres and get rid of benzema/higuain? (plus the money) So is that all worth it for this improvement(kaka)? Hope you now got what I've ben trying to say mate.

u are 100% right mate, some pple argue that we should have given sneijder two holding midfielders as backup. i will say it's totally wasting of space. how can a player without the ability to carry the ball needs two guys to back up??? ridiculous. does xavi need two to back up?? he holds the ball way more than sneijder does. does cesc need so?? i ain't saying sneijder is bad or anything but compare him to kaka is totally ridiculous.

he played good in inter cuz inter is the defending champ who has already had a very solid system. he is not the most impressive one though, diego milito, motta, eto, along with Maicon are also doing great. kaka is totally different. he just came to our "broken" team and rapidly being a player that we can't play without him. it 's just early in the season, the earlier he adapts to the team, the greater he shows his class.

i'd never doubted about the worth or kaka. i will still go for kaka is the price is 3 sneijder. the results have already proven why im saying this. cuz kaka can bring us to another level, a level that other top teams can't reach. regardless to their terrible form lately, AC Milan doesn't appear to be a strong side anymore. up to now, they still have to rely on grandpa Inzaghi and veteran Seedorf to stir the team up. Nesta plays worse than a 3rd tier defender, and their transition defense is extremely horrible. the key to kick their ass: our strikers should start "defend" in their half field once they possess. Our strikers have to act as defender to chase PIRLO around and give him pressure. like Kanoute, Fabiano, and Villa did to our guti two seasons ago. once pirlo struggle, their attack will remain in a mess. i've never worried about them even though they suprisingly took down Marseille away from home. defending set piece is another key.

especially Marca, pple would be interest on how good we were playing on the pitch cuz they pretty much can watch the game and judge by themselves. they are only interested on some "meaningless" stuff that has nothing to do with hte team's performance on the pitch. once the team plays bad, they are...

*pple would NOT be interested on how good.....

Pelligrini's rotation plus Higuain oh and Benzema had a pretty good weekend!

HEinze!!! Haha this game should be fun.

Can't wait til we play Ac Milan...

If we lose against AC Milan then say bye bye to the Champions League ten years to come,AC Milan are in horrible form lately but we should watch out 8O

regardless to their terrible form lately, AC Milan doesn't appear to be a strong side anymore. up to now, they still have to rely on grandpa Inzaghi and veteran Seedorf to stir the team up. Nesta plays worse than a 3rd tier defender, and their transition defense is extremely horrible. the key to...

YES set pieces our main weak point!

yeah, especially when they have Pirlo as the piece taker, i don't worry about his direct strike since Saint Iker is there but i just worry our careless man-on-man marking inside the box whenever it comes to set piece. only Pepe and Albiol can't do all the job. everyone is responsible on defending set piece

Nah... Kaka did not say that... He said he always want to play but there is no problem to rotate.
